hi
im transplanting my old hifi into my new estate
very happy with the head unit / 4 x speakers but in the last car the sound was a little bit lightweight.
i've been told that the bose system in the estate has a sub woofer ?
if so. Where ?
where is the best place for a small amp ?
do i need to build a mdf enclosure for a sub ?
i want quality not volume !!
any idea's or advise would be great
cheers steve
ps ive got a bloody big dog in there sometimes so it needs to be integral if possible
-
bose'd estates have sub in passenger side cubby hole, amp in drivers side cubby hole.
-
did the sub have some sort of enclosure to it ?
any idea what size it is ?
currently using a kenwood head unit
6.5 inch infinity components in the front doors
5.25 inch in the rear doors
both with seperate tweeters and fitted in the original holes that way the thieving little bast**ds round here don't know whats in there >:(
cheers steve

Subs in a enclosure and fills the hole on the Estate amp in the o/s
turn down the sound when the hound is in the car

And as if by magic ::) 2nd picture down ;)

pretty sure I have one sitting in my garage, it sits in a large black plastic box so no need to mdf enclosures...but it will take some finding atm as only half way through tidying the garage and its in the side thats not been done yet! lol
Subtle sales technique Pete...like it :y

cheers lads
just sorting out what im going to do to the v6 in the near future
looks like its gonna cost a few quid
once i get something sorted out with the TD and some bast**d pays me on time then i'll be in touch
thanks for the advise and help

Depends what you need...entire set up you can get elsewhere if you just need a few bits then I have a CCR800 with code, matching CDC2 without code (can be got for £7.50), the Bose Amp for estate and some bose door speakers...but no wiring all going cheap to get them out my garage :y

i've got a small alpine amp in the house somewhere so i'll just be just looking for the sub with its housing mate
well happy with everything else i've got here already
Been a sparky, i've got plenty of cable about so i can make up any looms myself
cheer anyway

Well I presume it must do but thought the amp and plastic housing was all in one :) But can do that on its own anyway no problem :)
-
sorry mate
didn't know that
thought the amp and sub was totally differant units hence the idea of using the alpine
-
are the input voltages for the bose amp coming from the head unit the same as other makes ?
thought i heard someware that it was differant ?
might be wrong though
iv'e had a sleep since then ;D
anybody else shed some light on this ??
-
If you want to fit bose, stick entirely to bose setup. If you want to use 3rd party, use entirely 3rd party. Do not try to mix and match with bose, you'll be tuned to channel smoke if you do.
-
2 Ohm output mate for the Bose...and I read it wrong...yes amp and sub are different...its the sub that has its own little housing :y

The BOSE amplifiers do not use conventional Line-level / RCA output voltages as used by aftermarket head units, what you heard was correct.
BOSE speakers are 2 Ohm also, so they must be replaced as well.

does anybody know what diameter the bose sub is ?
unless i change the head unit ( which has mini disc )
it is looking like the best bet is to keep the houseing and just replace the sub out of it
cheers steve
