Title: ncd* service menus with tmc message counter
Post by: feeutfo on 08 February 2009, 03:17:51
press and hold MAIN for 6 seconds on ncd* head units to show service menus for nav satelites, rds channels and one option, THE NUMBER OF TMC MESSAGES RECEIVED by the unit. Will play with this tommorrow but dont think my disc is new enough to work, will see one way or another with this i guess...? I know tmc dont work in the uk, but can anyone with an up to date disc confirm the counter is on zero. Maybe this could show if the unit receives but does not display tmc messages, or it just does not see then at all?

Link below translated from German via google so its not very clear  :-/

this came from the same site Andy posted re tv on cid. Seems our German friend has been busy, click the link at the bottom under all the adverts. a couple of other links as well.

Translated below from site, cant test mine at the moment as my mate has my nav disc,

Declaration

This way, in principle, to TMC

ST: 9 = "Segl state" is a status in the state machine
P> 0 = congestion in the surrounding
J = Near
j = Or, far away
P: = 5013983/858151 Is my position, so here zb. in Eschborn, near Ginnheim strasse
(is called WGS84 format. 1 delta longitude always constant), delta
latitude changes. NAVTEQ and TeleAtlas to work with it.
AD: 0 = Accepted Delay
TOT: 0 = total delay
(0) Counter

Just as a bullet
(0) 0 000000
(0) 0 123456
Interestingly, only the number 4 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
4: Number of new TMC messages
6: 8aCount. if TMC is received, which is moving here.

All the xxxxx in the last line is a representation of the last
TMC displayed message. so you can then somehow TMC tables in which
rauslesen, in principle, only interesting for developers.

And a picture in GPS mode test Picture3

Just put CID in tractor, now get a TMC icon - this was masked by the Telematics line before.

cant get the link to your pic to work Jamie, can you see whats wrong with it? its the second pic down in your list of cid pics ;)

basically im thinking navi menu 2 is the tmc page, and the 3rd line down being relevent with the counter on the end from(0) onwards.

presume the xxxx' s mean nothing present?????...and mine has no chance :-?

You need a 2004 (I think) map disk or later to enable TMC functions, but this does still not decrypt UK TMC

Yeah, just proves the point, interestingly for some reason that same page had no info on it on the way to work this morning,but as the pic above it was showing find yest, just a blank page, no x's no nothing, just the page 2 title.

I am on the scrounge to borrow a post 05 disc, as my post in general chat. Only for about a week, for examination purposes, my Mercedes buddy has some things to try.

I would have thought so, not that it will give any further info than if it was normal.
