would i be right in saying the nuts that fix the cd changer to the bolts sticking up in the compartment are m6?? and should i use the large tuppenny washers.???
-
..... tuppenny washers.???
.... and I thought inflation was going down! They used to be 'penny washers' ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
ive loads of washers but only tiny nuts. but enough of my problems. i'll have to walk round screwfix and get some ;D ;D

I'll have to pass on the size of your nuts! ::)
Across the flats/spanner size of 10mm is (generally) for an M6 nut/bolt. 8mm for M5 & 7mm for M4

Is this a new-to-you changer? I know there are 2 similarlarly labelled changers that are different from each other.

mine is a ccrt700, the connectors are ok, its sending a singal to the radio but just says error up on screen. so i have the right changer i presume. :-/

The Boy or Dave DND are the men to ask, but my changer (I have a CCRT700 too) is a CDC2. It has the numbers 90 566 804 but i think the all importnat number is 7 607 797 321 on the label underneath the unit.

Are the discs in the right way.
Sounds like the cd changer is communicating with the the head unit ok but the discs are not being recognised.
Are these origianl discs.
Also, moving to the ICE section

take the changer back out, and sit it on the radiator in the house (medium heat!!) for an hour or 2. then take it back out to the car and connect it up without fitting into the cage, to see if it works, I know my changers can sometimes be fussy in this real cold weather.
the warmth should dry out any condensation inside the unit.

Sounds like it may be an incompatable changer. Although it may say CDC2, there are 11 varieties of this, and they are not cross compatable. The all important number is the 10 digit part number starting 7 ??? ??? ??? and you need to get the correct part number changer for use with your head unit. Others may be able to advise which version is correct for you to look out for as I`m afraid I do not have a list here.

Ok, some extra info for those trying to source a replacement CDC2 for your vehicle.....Beware!
There are two version of this unit used on Vauxhalls and they are NOT compatible!
The units have a two digit ID on them as follows:
FA - Suitable for all radios that do no have Phone function
FC - Only suitable for radios with phone function (i.e. CCRT700)
i have:
7 607 797 321
90 566 804
type cdc2
W1G
FD.

Is there anyone local to you with the same CCRT700 that you can swap changers with to try?
-
could it be possible the laser is duff? was it tested prior to you buying it?
if it was and working, then maybe internally damaged in the post if its the correct one for your headunit.
cheers
-
i wouldnt know to be honest. everytime i turn it on it searches for dsic but comes back disc error after every disc number.
-
That would suggest a duff laser maybe?
Excellent idea by Andy B though, do you have a fellow Ooofer nearby that could swap quickly to confirm the changer is at fault
-
i'll have to have a look on the map, i know theres 3 very near me. :y

Its just ident, but would need to look up what that ident is for. Fact that HU is talking to cdc2 proves its right one.
