Title: Standard Equipment
Post by: furrymunkey on 10 February 2009, 19:10:53
I have a few questions re standard radio equipment. I have an Omega 2.0 CD ( 1997 ) and I wanted to fit standard vauxhall headunit and CD changer. Questions are, would it be possible to fit a loom in the boot for the CD changer and what sort of price would I be looking at for the headunit and cd changer?. I have fitted rear shelf speakers....decided to fit them when I fitted the electric blind, but they are not connected as there is no wiring for them. If anyone could help me out with this one and maybe one of you fellas might have a spare radio and cd changer I could buy?  :y

never easy. I was hoping that the loom might plug into somewhere in the boot. I did consider the CDR500 but I prefer the idea of a changer.

Check for a large connector in the drivers kick panel.  If present, not too bad a job.  If not present, its just a little harder.

ccr600 + (compatible) cdc2 would give you what you need, but wouldn't drive rear shelf speakers (only 4 channel).

ccr800 + (compatible) cdc2 + bose amp + bose speakers is similar to above, but offers a better sound, still standard fit, and can drive bose shelf speakers.

That unit will not work on its own - it needs bose amp and loom, which in turn need the bose speakers...

Correction, taken off my watchlist lol. I don't really want to go to the expense of a bose system

Buy it in bits, not that expensive if you source the parts that way...

I have a set of Bose speakers as well as a CCR800 head unit with code and a Bose amp here which I want out the way so would be cheap and get you started...would just need the loom and (if the rear speakers you have are not Bose the bose sub speakers for your shelf) and you would be in business for not much money at all...

Alternatice would be the system that would be in an elite of that year...SC804 CDC with Philips SC012 changer in the boot...wont run rear speakers though...but much cheaper...have head unit and changer here for that but no loom...

Got the loom today from the scrappy and a SC805 headunit and philips amp. The loom was attached to 2 rear shelf speakers and the amp was in the passenger side of the boot, same side as the spare wheel. Have been advised this isn't for the bose system. The labels are well worn but the numbers I can read off the amp are:

PHLIPS 90370?66

GM1601R0005690

W8Y

Can someone tell me what it is?  :y

forgot to add...the headunit from the car I also took is SC804 and everything was connected so it's confusing me more lol

Its the amp for the SC804 CDC head unit...not Bose but still a good sound...some have the amp some dont...

I think the rear shelf speakers must be a modified loom as thats not normal for these...

thats what puzzles me as I have checked the loom and it is all standard. No wires have been cut or added and it is still sealed.
