Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 14 February 2009, 17:17:03
For fitting Electric Seats into a car that has no electric seats, I was sure I had the diagram off the forum as I have done this wiring before, Just cant remember...
I have scrolled through a few hundred posts twice think I may have missed it. :-?

Cheers for that Jaime, but the one I was talking about we had last year said connect black wire to green wire etc... thought it was off here, it could have been off "The Master" though :)

Connect the 0v (brown from memory, 2 of them) wires to brown, and the 12v (red from memory, again 2) wires to the permenent 12v presented in the car (also red iirc)

So if I connect the browns to browns and reds to reds will it'll all work?
what happen with the air bags and seat heaters ?

They also need connecting, but the plugs should match for those.

I'm not sure there will be plugs in the car for anything as its only got electric height adjustment, no airbags heaters etc. but the seats have elec everything,
so if I just connect all the reds and browns will the heaters be on and the airbags triggers :o

Right, you have a problem.

If your car doesn't have side airbags, then it will have the older style seat belt pretensioners.  If the replacement seats have side airbags, they will have new style pretensioners.

Not sure there is a solution to that.

it is much simpler than you all think - under the seat there is a control box - there is a long plug with loads of wires at one end - the next plug to it is the power plug and there are two thicker cables - red live and brown earth, there are also some thinner cables which need connecting to live and earth - I have downloaded a photo of the box and connections (I am sure from this site) and I will send it to anyone who pm's me their e-mail address.  I was struggling for ages and no-one on the site actually identified which wires to connect - after finding this photo it took me five minutes to get a working memory seat!

Wrong pretensioners, not sure what to do.  Possible to swap pretenioners over??

That looks good, the pre tensioners look the same, I might be lucky, it hasn't got airbags but with it being a 99 car I think the pre tensioners could be the same.

All 1999 cars should have side bags :o

Amazingly 99GLS estates came without rear headrests, pass or side air bags :o, I asked the Vauxhall dealer.
