Post by: MV6Man on 17 February 2009, 16:58:04
So i´ve been looking for a tool that i could play with..
What kind of experiences do you have with cheaper ones??

It might work, but if I were you I'd stick with the paper clip test.

Yeah, paperclip is the cheapest way  for fault code reading, but i´d like to check aircon and headlight´s too...

Real Tech2, but they are about £3.5k ;D

You may have some mileage with cheapo Tech2 IF you have a real com port on your lappy.  Doesn't (usually) work on usb adpaters

If you want to do engine diagnostics and EML resetting then the maxscan GS500 is pretty good IMHO  - OBDII only though

Avoid the cheap versions off eblay ...  seem to be chinese rejects .. had to send mine back and buy a "proper" one .. :0

No complaints about mine - it reads every ECU on the Omega and virtually all GM's since ALDL and provides some basic functionality tests as well as live data.

What about this one. I know some one that has one & it does air flow meters/abs etc everything really as well as engine/box.

So we changed the MID from German to English lang.
And Japanes settings for the fuelconsumption. km/l instead of l/100km.
