i know this sounds a silly one but has any one else had any problems changing the head unit ? the roblem being is not enough for the new head unit to push all the way back there seems to be no space . is there any way of removing some dash so i can pull the wires out the way as i install it ?

A few people have, esp if you need adapters for your new radio.
Nothing you can do for better access, you just have to lay the cables neatly before pushing radio in.

Depends on your head unit - one i tried had one of those huge fuse/filter black boxes on it and there was no way it would fit. Now have a Sony one and managed to tick some wires under the HU, and others to the LHS.
The first one I tried was a little longer than the Sony which didn't help either - and the one i took out had been pushed in that hard that it pulled the vac hoses out from the heater distribution switch.

mine is a alpine it has a external dc converter and 3 pre outs and a few other bits and pieces so i guess there is no chance of getting it in , i can get it in apart from the last half a inch i have tried a couple of times now and ts almost beaten me [smiley=sad.gif]

Had the same issue with my JVC, 3 pre outs, numerous other cables, harness adaptor for steering wheel controls etc,
JVC cage was too big, had to reuse the original (after some modification).
Could not get it past the last half inch (as the actress said to the bishop)
Tucked as much cable as possible on left hand side in space behind hazard switch and layed the rest down as flat as poss. After numerous attempts I got there (after like you thinking I couldn't).
Just to prove it can be done!!

V6CDBoy had exactly the same issues here: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1232211860/30 but got there in the end. So unless your iso connector is physically hitting the back of the recess, with perserverence and resisting the urge to take your hammer to it, I reckon you'll get there. :y :y
Good luck :)

mine is only single din i'm sure if i spent a day on it i would get it in , i really hope its not the iso connector as i really dont want to have to cut it off and hard wire it . i'm gonna try making a bit more space around the area by carefully moving a few other cables then tidy putting the cables from the head unit neatly in too then try again . is there no way of removing some dash to at least hold stuff out the way ? It makes me laugh you think of how big a car it is and you think yer that will fit easy , it was a bit of a squeeze getting this head uni into my cosworth but it went in lol

i had this prob with my dvd player. What i did was push the block conneter down and tuck it under the cage and it then goes in nicely :y

Hi
Not been on for a while. But it can be done. try pushing the iso cables behind the rear screw hole and then push the connector down behind the hazard light switch.
Keep trying you will get there
