I know this is not car related but i thought it may be of interest to some of you folk. I recieved this e-mail from a friend earlier today regarding the International Space station. Apparently it has docked or is docking with the Space shuttle and tonight at 17.20 precicely it should be clearly visible almost overhead if the skies are clear where you are. Last nights view was very good but tonights should be even better.

Look in the west at 17:20, it will be at almost overhead, but now looking to the south at 17:22 and gone a minute later - last nights pass was excellent - this is even brighter. Just hope the clear sky holds.

Did you see it? No joy up here on Fylde coast area. I presumed it would be lower in the sky to the South looking from here, but the bu**er still sneaked past without being spotted.
Does it appear as silhouetted against the setting sun, or illuminated by it? Will it pass again tomorrow?

I saw it at 17.20 and Slowmo said he missed it at 17.20 but saw it on it's next pass at 18.57. It was reflecting the red of the sunset and moving very fast but clearly visible down here in Oxfordshire passing almost overhead. Sunrise and sunset are usually the best times to get a good look at it, night time passes all you tend to see is a fast moving bright light much like a satalite and daytime passes you don't often see too much as everything is too bright. I'll have a look to see when the next decent veiwing oppertunity is.

I had another eMail today and apparently we should be able to see the Space station again tonight, slightly later.....
Email.......
Some of you saw it others couldn't spot it, but it was big, large and bright from Nottingham.
Tonight's is easier to spot as it will be almost going over the moon at 17:43 and 15 seconds. Also slightly later and so darker skies

This poses the question as to if i need glasses or not..If i see it why would i want glasses.. :D ;)

Thanks for the info. Can't get onto 'Heavens above' at the moment. Probably inundated.

Saw it tonight. Can't believe it got by undetected last night.
When you start thinking about it, the mind boggles at the technological development and achievement that makes it possible, and quite old hat now.

Read this thread just before I left work last night at about 5.40pm. Thought I'd hang about in the car park for a few minutes and saw it clear as a bell at that exact time. :y Quite surprised at how quick it was moving too.

I wasn't the only nutter who got shifty looks for loitering in the car park gazing at the moon then. ;D
Need to get some binoculars out next time..
