Post by: Justdave on 28 March 2009, 20:33:32
I've just bought a 2.6 Elite and picked it up today, When I try to use the CD player the info screen says Error CDC, also when I press the button for the front cover of the CD to open it doesn't open and the message error CDC appears again, anyone got any tips !!

Error CDC of CDC Safe?

Error CDC is likely to be a faulty mech (or cable unplugged), CDC Safe is a common fault.

It's error CDC, I can here a 'whirring' sound as though the magazine is trying to engage or disengage but the front cover wont pop open. Although I only bought the car yesterday I don't really want to take it back to the dealer as I feel as though I've already been ripped off and I wouldn't trust them to do the job properly anyway ! Can it be as simple as the front cover stuck ?

Error CDC is either jammed cartridge or Laser failure

Just to put you out of your misery you could be suffering from having:

1 Busted mechanical mechanism (front cover)
2 A jammed cartridge (mechanical failure to eject magazine)
3 Laser failure

In my case I have 2 & possibly 3. I can remove the cartridge by hand, gently insert screwdriver on the right hand side. But when the magazine is reinserted it comes up with the same error message.

I haven't been able to resolve mine. :'(

If you're confident, it may be worth stripping done CD section, seen a couple where disks get jammed.
