Title: double and quad electrode spark plugs difference
Post by: mathewst on 06 April 2009, 14:58:22
Can you put a quad electrode spark plugs on 2.2 petrol omega?
I've read that the original spark plugs for this engine are double electrode, but when changing them thought of putting  a quad electrode spark plugs.
Anyone tried this? It works or not? And if it does is it ang good?
This I found on ebay and looks like they're promising alot but I'm not so sure.

I will answer one question and then ask another one of you...

1) Yes, they will fit (although genuine on trade club is cheaper in the UK!)

What do you expect to gain for your increased out lay?

Actually don't expect to get anything just checking will everything will work as it does now if I try to put the quad electrodes instead of double (consumption the same, no missfires etc...)
Here it's quite a problem to buy a proper replacement part because dealers are extremly incompetent and have no idea about the parts they're selling, and I really don't have the time to order everything from ebay always and wait two weeks for a delivery every time  So if I get the quads in a locall shop I guess that wont be a problem.
Thanks Mark

Nope, they will work (assuming the temp rating etc is ok).

Just remember that contary to popular belief, the ONLY thing multi electrode spark plugs offer is extended service life....and quads can actually shield teh fual air mix from the spark slightyl!
