Title: key fob rpoblem

my key fob has stopped working, I can open the car ok by key, the alarm goes off, when I put my key in the ignition and stat the car the alarm stops, I can stop the car and remove key, if I do not lock car then the alarm does not arm itself, to lcok the car I can only do it wit the key, have changed the battey fro new to no avail, red light is flashing on key when buttons are pressed. it is a 1998 2.5 V6 omega est elite. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO RESET WOULD BE APPRECIATED

assuming it once worked (ie, isn't a 'new' key to the car), it needs resyncing.

Ign on, press the buttons a few times until it locks and unlocks. Job done.
