hi the drivers side front door speaker on my elites bose system is sounding horrid on base notes at volume. took speaker out and re-fitted and seemed ok for a while. Question is .. is it blown or just dry ?
I noticed when i moved the cone when out it souned dry to move. any thoughts ?

Could be the speaker on its way out, or a dry / intermant joint in the wiring, check it back to the Amp. A cheap DVM would help here.
Proof in the pudding would be to replace the speaker. Im sure some members on here could sell you one.

If you mean that you got a scraping / rubbing noise when you pushed the cone in and out, then the voice coil has burnt out.
If this is the case, replace it IMMEDIATELY !!!
Do not continue to use whilst like this as can damage the amp, and that is a very expensive repair bill if you manage that one.
