Hi all how do u put in a permant live wire for the cd player as i always have to set the time and scan for the radio staion all the time
-
shoudl already be perm and ign 12v behind radio. Vx tend to reverse them though, so if aftermarket, that could be the reason
-
Pin 2 and Pin 8 on the ISO if I remember correctly
-
If fitting an aftermarket radio, swap the lives around - usually red and yellow, and most have in line bullets for this
:y

Yes it is a aftermarket radio, thanks dave i`ll try swaping the red and yellow wires around
-
Another way is to connect the memory and positive wires from the radio (join them together) and simply connect them to the positive pole of the previous car instalation.

If you are going to spend time playing with wiring, surely its no more hassle to do it properly, than to bodge it in the manner you have just described?
There are two wires from the car with perfectly good supplies, and two wires from the radio that need the correct supplies.
Its not rocket science, so why introduce other potential faults by bodging wires together that were never supposed to be connected together?

Yep, got to agree, by connecting the permanent live to the switched live you are potentially turning the switched live into a permanent live..... to all the equipment that is ignition switched.

All the aftermarket stereo's I have used have had bullet connectors on the red and yellow wires for easy swapping for Vauxhalls.
My Pioneer's have caught me out though, I had reversed the wires, added the display / streering adaptor, and nothing worked....
The adaptor was Vauxhall specific so had built in reversal ;D
Too clever for its own good ;D
