Thought i'd have a look at the headlamp feild/vision fault i've been suffering with since I got my Elite estate, after checking and changing the level sensors to no avail I set about the next part in the chain.
Found this....

that will be a slight amount of water ingress then :o
Don't suppose anyone has a good working one they could sell me ?? PN 90 565 805

Well suprise suprise, went down to my local breakers and he actually had a W reg (facelift) x polac sat in the yard with one good headlamp.
10 minutes later I had a Servo thingy in my hand. Cost... £5 + the VAT. Result I think
It's now fitted and the error message has gone away, so do I have to do anything else or is that job done ???

job done. For sake of completeness, if you have access to a tech2, clear the codes that will be stored in the headlight ecu, and exercise the lights over their full travel.

Wow not ever looked in the light servos...interesting pic...goodjob well done mate, really nice piece of investigation :y

Fairly common (not as common as the sensors), and its usually down to water ingress...

ive got the same prob but aint looked into it yet
is that right about the tech 2 thing cos ive got access to one and might try that?

tech2 will tell you if its:
servos
sensors
comms between headlight ecu and MID (not directly though!)
which seem to be the common faults.
It also allows you to exercise them over their full travel which tends to free them up a bit.
