Post by: Kumamoto on 24 April 2009, 13:55:03
I have a facelift omega with xenon projector headlight which are not HID. I have spotted some headlight on ebay...genuine HID and i was thinking. Can i do a straight swap with mine? Is there any modifications required? Please advice

Physically, yes, small bit of rewiring.

Legally, yes and no. To be legal with HIDs, you need an automatic levelling system, and headlight washer system. You also need lenses approved for HIDs, but Omega HID ones obviously are.

Whilst the legalities around the HIDs are not checked at MOT, I have it on good authority that there is a clampdown on illegal HIDs going on now (I think they are more targetting the ebay aftermarket kits though)
