Title: dvd player lazer problems?

ive a cd/dvd/flipscreen headunit here, it plays cds for a moment then starts skipping and freezing, ive been told its lazer problems, how much would a replacement lazer be?

I mite be stating the obvious but have you tried a dvd/cd cleaning disc :-/

the other thing to try would be take the cover off and clean the lazer with some alcohol on a cotton bud :-/

NO !  Never use chemicals if cleaning a laser with a cotton bud

It will damage the surface coating

The lenses often have anti-reflective coatings on them.....hence the need to be careful.

If you want to clean them with a cotton bud, then do nothing more than to breath on them to create a light mist and then gently wipe the condensation back off. be carefull not to apply too much pressure as the coils that move the lens up and down are exceptionally sensitive, and are very easily damaged.

yeah used multiple a cd lense cleaners about 30 times over and over... still no difference.. :(

lol i dont even want to use it, it came with my old s13 200sx n its just been lying there since... just looking to sell it n trying to see if it would be cheap to fix first..

yep i got it sorted, its up for sale now too.... :(
