hi peeps
having took my origional system out (it was working fine)
i cant seem to find the speaker wires at the back acording to the backplate on the old systen it is the middle plug ..its sorta 3 plugs in 1 the way i understood it its data from the radio at the top to the display what im not botherd about ....8 speaker wires / 4 pairs of wired in the middle .....and power at the bottom bit ....the speaker wires in the middle i cant seem to get any continuity from any of the pairs through my multimeter although the speakers ovbiously worked before
there are 8 speakers in the car tweters front /front door.back door/ subs in the back shelf / no amp underneath
im basiacaly changing to an Alpine Mp3 head unit that ive fitted to many cars in the past without any problems but cant seem to faf it out in the Mig
any help Apreciated

Yes, its the middle block of 8 pins.
However, if your car was fitted with the BOSE system then your Alpine will not be compatable with it unless you bypass the BOSE amp and replace the 2 Ohm speakers in the car.

get an adaptor from halfrauds :y

Hi again
Thanks very much for your reply .....i normally know what im doing with auto electrics but this 1 is really doing my head in ......the 8 wires in the middle block i cant seem to get any continuity through any of the pairs at all ...its like there is a relay whats switched them all off and the origional stereo had some sort of wire that energised some sort of switch / relay / phone mute ....hope im making a little sense here ...ive been trying to work it out all afternoon & its really doing me head in :-?
if its any relavance it did have a CD changer in the back (which has never been in the car)but didnt have the Bose amp on the back parcel shelf although it does have subbs in the back shelf the car is a 1997 CDX 2.5 diesel .....is there anywhere else the BOSE amp could be ?
Thanks again
-
Sorted it .......but i still dont get it ....there is a red wire with a white stripe on it .i applied 12v to this the display went out were it says the date & year at the top and sound came throgh the speakers ..can any of you explain this ?

Sounds like the remote turn on signal for the external BOSE amp
You probably now have sound, and very little control over it.
Sounds very distorted at high volumes on the head, and the volume is "stepped" at low levels if I am right
-
This is what i dont get .....the sound is perfect ......thers no amplification whateaver its going through ....the only thing i can think of its the Phone muting circuit ...as ive said thers NO BOSE amp on the back shelf ....i cant work it out.....at the end of the day its working & that ll do for me
Thanks for your replies Dave i DO respect your words of wisdom :y

As far as I was aware (hopefully somebody will correct or confirm this) but if you have the subs on the rear shelf, then you DO have the BOSE system.
Wasn`t aware that subs were an option any other way, but if they were, then there would have to be an amp in there somewhere as teh OEM head unit would not have been able to power them.

I'm with Dave on this one, I also think it is just the Bose system that has the sub etc in the rear shelf, but we are also forgetting one thing here and that is ---- Dave DND is the 'Daddy' !
Cheers

Thanks for the vote of confidence . . .
But although I do profess to have an exceptional knowledge of all things car audio . . .

I have never yet owned an Omega, so there are some area`s that I am a little hazy on

Quick update after some info from TB
Pre 1998, it will be Philips amp in boot, original head unit SC804.
1998 onwards, Bose
If yours is 1997, then you should be ok with it.

Sorry, your description is unclear.
By "fix" do you mean
Repair a system that is faulty?
or, as I suspect, install a system that you do not currently have?
