Im after the latest firmware disc for my phillips carin system it has the ancient firmware on it!
my units playing up and before i condem it id like to try the later release ive googled to no success :(
-
ive had a look in the service menu and an error has appeared :
Code 1
Count 17
HW Failure
anyone know what this means the unit is just going round in circles now wont navigate when you put a route in it just sits there for 5 minuites and eventually reboots
-
Not familiar with the error code you have, but would suggest to clean the laser and / or remove power for an hour, plug back in and reboot.
:-/

Doubt firmware will help.
What firmware are you running now, and what is the HW ID?

Yes, 2.3 is the latest for that hardware. Ensure you get the right one, as the language file is also on the flash!
I have a 2.3 English here, but not sure if I can distribute as it may be subject to copyright - but then its also a firmware update only suitable for that hardware :-/. Sadly, there seems to be nobody you can clarify the situation, as Philips sold CARiN to VDO, who merged with Siemens, then the whole lot sold to Continental. Nobody at Siemens or at Continental seems to know the answer :'(
-
Should add that 2.3 doesn't really offer anything. 2.3 prepopulates the local vincinity as the town when entering a destination iirc, thats it... ....actually, may offer 5 digit postcodes, but thats as much use as a used johnny smeared in dogshit

Don`t use any alcohol on the lens - you will take off the protective film - create a mist by breathing on it and wipe away the condensation

found the problem the GPS Connector module is damaged the pin is stick and belt off in it i reckon this is why its given up all of a sudden??

got a spare antena here but needs the wire repairing yours if you want it :y

unfortunatly the CARiN and myself had a little disagreement and the poor thing passed away this afternoon :(
That HW Failure error is deffinatly Laser Failure i ran the unit without the cover on it loads the disc spins it and you can hear the laser adjusting its lens etc so its deffinatly a laser failure perhaps because the past owner put a eBay Map disc in it u know who you are!!!
im going to take somebody up on an offer on an improved Sat Nav system as i think it appeals much more too me and i fancy another wiring nightmare!
didnt get to test my update cd as my units laser has packed up it will accept a normal shinny cd but even then its having read problems
