Is it possible to solder the wires on the heated seat pad on drivers seat,as i have been told.Anyone done this sucsessfully.? :y

I've done it to mine & my previous Senator, I cut off the first 1" or so as it'd burnt out. It's been OK since! (fingers crossed)
No variable heating on mine though.

I may be completely off the mark here, as not sure which wires you are soldering, but if as I suspect you are replacing and bypassing the burnt out heating elements with bits of ordinary wire, then that may be very dangerous.
By bypassing the elements with bits of wire, you are effectively shortening the heating element coil, which means that the remaining wires may be running at a significantly higher tempaerature due to the change in heater impedance.
Remember that the seats, and the interior in the Omega are not fire retardant in any shape or form, and you will now understand my concern.

As said ... it was about the first 1" or so of the element that had burnt out on mine which I cut off & remade the original connection an inch further up! :y :y It's been OK for the last 4 years ;)

Dont exactly know which wires to be honest bud,hoping someone can shed a bit more light as to which ones exactly,and how much of the cover has to come off,but yes i can understand your concern mate. :y

Your seat has varying heat settings, but I assume that the seat bit is broadly similar. The base only has 2 wires going to it and the lower back is in series with the base, so if you cut loads of the element out, I suppose you would drastically alter the current draw on bothe elements.
First job is to see if you have 12 volts at the seat when you turn the seat on.

Removal of the cover isn't too hard .... isn't there a guide somewhere that covers (ha ha) part of removing the covers? :-/
Disconnect your battery while you do the job and that way yu'll not upset the airbag light, and the seats are bloody heavy! :-? :y

How would you electrically test if the element is bust?volt meter or similar ?assuming you have power getting to the heater from switch.
