Does it work OK as soon as you have put the code in?

What head unit are you running?

Has this only just gone faulty?

Works ok when code goes in but needs putting in every time car is used, Phillips/Bose with the phone in, been like this for ages but is now really getting on my nerves. Maybe unconnected but it doesn't like ejecting the cartridge sometimes!

I`d start checking voltages on the Changer plug for the permanent live - hopefully someone can post up a diagram of the plug, so you know what you are looking for.

If voltages are ok, then probable PSU in changer has gone.

I retro fitted some cruise controls for a couple of customers recently, one of whom had SAFE on the cd payer but the radio was ok. aparently its a common fault vauxhall cant fix, its a new stereo.

but sounds to me like your seperate cd changer is losing its live feed when you switch off.

check the yellow and red supply (12v) wires to see what happens when the ign comes on and off. make sure it has perm to one and switched to the other.
and that the cdc has an earth.

SAFE on the CD player is fixable - Vauxhall didn`t want to buy the gear from me, so they can`t do it !!

I can   8-)
