1. The foglight switches----The front one of mine clicks in and out and works fine. The rear doesn't click and everythings ok as long as I hold my finger on the button but doesn't stay on when letting go. Is the rear switch click like the front??
2. Cruise control----- Was driving down a main road so I though I'd try the cruise control. Nothing, not a beep, light, click or murmur. Does a light come on with this? Any common faults on these?
Have to say I'm loving the car though, a joy to drive and comfy too.
-
fog light switchs - yes they do click, if you have to hold your finger on the switch to make it stay on then the switch is at fault
cruise control - no lights or beeps, best thing to do is get on the motorway or dual carriage way hit 60mph and hit the cruise control button it should keep it at that speed if you come to a hill you should feel the car pick up to keep the speed the same
hope that helps you out :y

Can you confirm both switches click?
I'll give the cruise control a try at a higher speed.
Cheers

the cruise control should work over 19mph if i remember right
i'm pretty sure both buttons click
i can't try mine as mine is still in the garage after the accident
ill get it back on monday, but i am pretty sure they both click
something to try
take out both switchs for front and rear fogs if the connectors are the same swop them over and try that
only need a small screw driver behind the switch to pop them out :y
let me know how you get on
-
I confirm that both switches click when switching on or off the front / rear fog lamps. One of mine (front one) was not clicking and the fog lamps did not come on at all. I changed the switch and now it's fine. Note that the switch come in pairs. If one is not working, you need to change BOTH of them as the switches are ONE UNIT.

Have now fixed the fog light switch. An easy diy repair to be honest.
1. Lever out switch panel
2. Lever out fog light switches from switch panel
3. Lever off the switch button cap and remove the 2 x long springs. You will then see a white frame inside the switch with some clear plastic that provides the 'on' light.
4.Pull out sqaure clear plastic and the frame will lift and you can remove. At the end of the frame is a v cut in that accutaes on a lever that provides the clicking action. Inside the switch you will see a tiny spring lever that runs through this v channel.
The fault is the V channel. The end of the 'V' is slightly rounded off. I gently applied a hot scalpel to 're-shape' the end of the v so the runner would go into the right side of the channel.
Put it back together and it workd perfectly.
An easy job and a good tip if you have a similar fault.

I know, but it hasn't worked for nearly a year, don't know what's up with it. I've changed the stalk but still doesn't work :(

Yeh thanks TB, I keep meaning to get over to Kevins for a diag (assuming he's still got the Tech II), or if he ventures into Kent for gliding he said he might be able to take a look :)

Have you got a Tech II?
Strange thing happened last night, went out just to brim the Mig with fuel, decided to press the cruise switch as I've done hundreds of times over the last year with no result................this time the cruise kicked in and works just as it should do :)
Tried it again today.still working fine :y
Now I'm putting this down to fitting a new battery a couple of weeks ago as I've not really done much else that could have caused it to start working.
So I'm concluding that the cruise needs a decent voltage to operate :-/

Cheers Kevin, looks like the cruise is sorted but would be nice to get the climate updated and a key programmed if I ever get hold of a spare one ::)

Can now confirm cruise control is working. Pressing the on button didn't seem to do much but pressing the I button after the on button seems to activate it.
After experiencing cruise on my dad's ohmega, having no previous experience with cruise it seemed not to work also. If you depress the throttle even a wee bit, then you switch off the cruise. I think you're activating it, then knocking it up another 'notch'.
I think it's just a case of getting a kind of knack for it, especially if youre not used to cruise (like me :( )

Throttle doesn't switch it off (certainly on 2.0/2.5/3.2 petrols or 2.5TD), brake does, as does clutch (on manual). Changing to N on an auto will as well :)

Accelerator use does not deactivate cruie, it simply increases vehicle speed then when pedal released, speed is resumed at that last set.... :y
