Knackered solenoid it is IMHO.

there is a guide on here for replacing the drivers side one, probably the same for passenger (?) I'm not brave enough to try it on mine though so will have to go to VX for my lazy drivers door lock!

Straight forward enough job. Use the door card removal technical guide as previously quoted. Undo the three torx bolts holding the door catch mechanism in place that meets with the catch on the car door frame, and this will allow the whole of the internal mechanism to swing forward with the solenoid lining up to the opening on the inside of the door.
Simple undo the two screws holding the solenoid in place, and detach the roding from the nylon "loop" on the top of the solenoid. Replace with new solenoid Vx part no. 090493702 £58.00 ex vat, or £52.61 ex vat with trade card. Be careful to reattach the roding to the nylon loop and ensure the rod that drops down from the top button engages into the cup at the side of the locking mechanism as you swing the locking mechanism, with new solenoid, back into place. Put back the torx bolts and tighten firmly.
Simples! :D :D :D :D :D
