Title: Sim card
Post by: GuinnessGary on 07 July 2009, 11:30:25
Hi, just bought a 1999 3.0 V6 Elite and it has factory fitted telephone. I know i'm being dumb but where do you insert the sim card? I've taken the removeable security panel off and it looks like it should insert there but it doesn't seem to fit. Can anybody help a newbie technophobe ? Thanks !

That's the correct place. Need to use full size sim from Voda or O2

full size being the credit card sized one, not the little bit you press out.

Or a sim card adaptor - credit card size that allows you to lay the smaller sim on top of it - readily available on fleabay or at most car boot sales

As already said, Vodaphone and O2 only

I have a T-moblie sim fitted to mine and It works fine. However it is a German one, don't know if this makes a differance.

After some experimenting, I use a standard PAYG O2 sim. I removed the sim and put into my moby for copying contacts. Then superglued the sim back into the credit sized carrier. Very thin sheet of plastic glued underside for safety (watch not too  thick!).
I think phone is excellent, very well integrated into sound system.

it has to be a 900mhz network. In the uk, that means o2/voda

Thanks to all for help. Bought a tesco payg sim for £1.21 (one pound 21 pence) and it works fine. Just slid it in and made a call - they even give you 20p woth of credit to make the 1st call. Ta !
