Title: Crank sensor
Post by: jim513 on 25 July 2009, 09:47:19
Good morning all
I have an R reg 2.5 v6 Auto, I've had this problem where occaisionally the engine wont fire up after I've driven around and the engine is warm....i leave it for 10 mins to cool down and it works fine...Until this morning  where it wouldn't start at all...breakdown guy told my there is no spark and its probably a crank sensor....anyone know where that is and probable cost.

Cheers guys

it is next to the oil filter, connector top of engine vertically above, just under scuttle.

perform the paperclip test detailed in the maint guide index to confirm, expect a code 19  :y

Thanks Jimbob
I should explain that when it comes to engines I'm a complete Numpty am i right in saying that when i do the paperclip test I'm looking for 1 flash followed by 9 flashes.

Ok Jimbob done test and got codes 59 and 19 in that order (dont know if thats significant).
Also had a look for the sensor and to be honest i couldn't even find the oil filter lol.

Thanks again for your help.
