Title: give me a clue?

so ive been driving my new est for 3 days now & have a few questions?

1/on friday it took about 7-8 turns of the engine to start from cold & when it did i got the engine light stay on for
about 5 miles.
i then stopped to get a latte & started the car again & the light had gone?
whats this?
2/today i started the car & got the engine light with the little spanner on it,went down the shops about 1 mile,started the car & hay presto the light has gone?
what is this?
3/i have also noticed that when driving at night with the headlights on,that when i brake they seem to dim a little?
is this normal?
please help this newb  ;)

ideally needs the engine management codes read. I'd guess its the cam sensor, but don't change things on a hunch.

Measure the battery voltage at idle and at 2000 rpm
