Is display showing a working radio?
Do you have BOSE?
Have you checked the fuses on teh amp if fitted?
-
it is not bose and the display is showing a working radio and cd

If power is ok, then I`d be suspicious of a short circuit speaker putting the audio stage into protection mode.
Do you get any feint noises at VERY low volume? May need to leave off for a while and switch on at low volume to try that one.

if i switch on and play cd i get a very low whirring noise seems to be comeing from left of car

Does that dissappear when the volume is increased?
-
yes it does

OK, now I`m even more suspicious of a short circuit speaker.
Next test is a little more complicated, and involves disconnecting each speaker in turn and see if your sound comes back with the remining three connected.
I`m not aware of any easy way to do this, as we have a special test jig to plug into the car to do this for us, otherwise it would be all door cards off.
