Title: Radio suffers when using rear screen heater
Post by: Stevie-blunder on 09 August 2009, 18:02:11
Hi.
Can anyone help? My radio goes "scratchy" when I switch my heated rear window on. Ok when not using the Window heater though.
Thanks.

Mine does the same, for what its worth. I assume its because the aerial is in the back window / the heating element and aerial are one and the same!

Will be interesting if theres a (cheap) fix!  ;)

Get a new antenna Lol

Sorry got no idea about a fix but I would try and find an antenna that uses the body as an antenna.( like the rover 825 )

Dodgy connections to the heated screen elements from/to the aerial amplifier ....... so we are led to believe by the clever members  :y  :y  :y

I must also agree with the clever members - dodgy connections.

External aerial is a dramatic improvement though if you ever get around to fitting one

Is the connector under the parcel shelf somewhere?

Yes, but it's actually an "active unit", i.e with an amplifier in and an absolute pig to get at.
