I have another thread with a similar question but it appears part way through the thread so I'll ask it here. I have fitted a new engine and the immobiliser light is permenantly on. I have the code card with the code number on. Can I reprogram it myself like on Renaults or do I need to get some one out? The engine has been out of the car for over a year and I did not take it out, I bought as is. I have reinstalled it myself and this is the stumbling block. Help!

You don't need to re-programme anything, it's an engine you've changed. You only need to re-programme the electrickery ECU's etc Have you done a 'paper clip test' for codes?

No, not yet. Is there a how to? I'm no mechanic, I just like to give things a go. I do have the possibility of someone with a diagnostic link for the car, will this cure the problem or just tell me what the fault is?

It'll just tell you what the fault is that's putting the light on. :y

What system does the pre facelift use? OBD2/EOBD

It might do. My 1994 2.5 V6 used ALDL. Not sure when they switched.

I am getting code 135: telltale checklight voltage low but what does this indicate? How do I rectify this?
