Post by: cheshire_scooby on 27 August 2009, 15:38:11
Hi can anybody help me please?
having just bought a 98 Omega, my radio works fine... but the cd is displaying CD-SAFE... the guy i bought it off said he took the battery off a few days ago and since then it is displaying this message.. i have a code for the radio(well this was written on the bag of the log book so i assume it is the right one(
but i do not know how to enter it, i did not get a handbook/owners manual with it...
please help i always seem to buy cars that have either a window fault or a cd fault!!!!

Needs the CD code entering - should be on your car pass.

Ignition on
Press and hold the CD button (either 'CD' or 'O' depending on model) and turn the HU on
Wait for beep
Input code (Press 1 repeatedly for the first digit, 2 for the second digit or just use the phone keypad if fitted with a phone)
Press and hold CD button again and wait for beep

The Cd changer in mycar has its own code, separate code from the radio.  ;)

Your CD Changer is codelocked after having an incorrect code entered. Make sure you have the correct number before trying again, and the Changer should clear after a couple of hours with radio and ignition switched on.

I can supply code numbers for that changer via my website, but you will have to bear with me at the moment as the server has just keeled over (again)

is there anyone on here that you could recommend that may be able to give me advise on an engine noise??
when i 1st start it from cold it has what can only be described as tappet sound, but it goes after a couple of minutes driving, dont know if this is seriuos or not, but certainly doesnt sound as if its right!!!

It could very well be a 'tappet' noise. The 'tappets'are hydraulic and lack of regular oil can restrict the oil to them, particularly from cold. Try a few very regular oil changes 1000 miles maybe. See how that helps.

PS My radio is a CCRT 700 - the one with a built in phone.  :y
