Any ideas on this one folks? When car is locked, fuel flap remains insecure and cap can be accessed by just flipping the flap open-the locking pin is not active.
Going to be parking in some dodgy areas across Europe soon and could do with sorting this asap!

Try cleaning it and greasing the piston. It's located in the boot, behind the first aid flap, 2 screws on the seam of the wheel arch and it slides backwards and out. If it still doesn't work then gimme a shout as I have one here :y

If anyone has a mint dark grey leather set of seats+5 headrests let me know-missed a black set for only £46 on ebay earlier....

Remember, with the seats, they have to be from same era as your car - post 1998 cars have side airbags, and post 2000 cars have different runners.
And being leather, having working heaters is useful!!

Especially if you're travelling to Lodz during the winter..... it gets rather cold there :o

If your worried about someone nicking your fuel :o then it may be worth investing in a locking fuel cap if you haven't got one :y.

If it's as difficult to syphon from an Omega as it is from an Astra G I wouldn't worry. I tried all sorts of tubeing to get to the fuel of her Astra (we wouldn't want the disposing scrap yard to have the problem of disposing of the fuel too ::)) this morning. I never ever reached the fuel, and there was half a tank or so in there.
It did donate most of it to my Omega in the end though via its fuel pump/schrader valve/length of tubing/piece of wire across the fuel pump relay base ::) ::) ::) ;) :y
If they really wanted your fuel, they'd stick a hole through the bottom of your plastic fuel tank. :-? :-? :-?

Its like anything though Andy, if they really want it they'll get it but a visual deterrent such a locking cap may at least put off the lazy crook who will just move onto one that doesn't have one :-/.

Hi again folks
As suggested, I removed pin and motor to inspect. I could pull the steel locking pin with some motor resistance, so lubricated it, then removed the connector plug and cleaned pins both sides and tensioned the pins so they fitted tight, greased the hole for the pin, re-attached the unit and screwed it back in place. Hey presto it worked.....several times, then jammed locked.
Repeated above, testing along the way, pin fires healthily and have checked alignment of pin/hole/flap, regreased and re-fitted.
Hey presto-it worked all day, but now jammed locked.
So what next? Is this a pin motor fault or signal from central locking fault? The pins and connectors have been abraded and fit tightly, unit works when not screwed down so not an earth fault.
Ideas please!! Appreciate the comments and help so far.
I know how to remove it so filling up is not an issue, but it would be very nice if I could fix this gremlin as I like my cars working 100% throughout.

Most likely the motor is on it's way out, best to replace. I have one here ;) :y

How much for the motor?? I can send a stack of stamps to more than cover the postage if this helps-bought loads for ebay but stuff was picked up!

Just to finish this one-now fitted the fuel release motor kindly supplied by welung666 and all works fine.
I was surprised this was the cure-suspected the wiring as existing motor worked sometimes and the pin moved freely.
This was a five minute job and works 100% now.

Disconnected it just in case.... :y
