Four pips when ignition turned on (or is it off?) IIRC.

Yes - several beeps heard when the ignition key is removed usually means they are on their way out...... there's some more info on the forum about disconnecting the sounder and/or opening it up to try and replace the batteries. I think they (whole unit) are about £70 new, but I've got one from Australia for £34.  :y

I though we were referring to the batteries in the power sounder? If the main battery is failing the alarm could sound when you are trying to start it but the main symptom would be slow cranking IMHO.

Also - don't shell out for a battery until you have checked the charging circuit. :y

There is a code for low battery.... it's 48 on the OBD but can't recall what it is on the OBDII

A lot of the power sounders were actually made in Australia, and they are used in many of the Holden models also..... I get stuff sent over from friends in Oz on a regular basis, so if anyone wants me to get them one, send me a PM  :y

If you look at http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1240077701 it shows 2 Varta packs, 3/150H. Maplins sell a pack with a similar no for £7, so if its the batteries then it will cost £14 to replace them. NB Check if its the right size before ordering, maplins stock pictures are terrible.

Yep, Have changed the batteries in a few. Worth checking the dimensions as the last lot I ordered were a little too large.

Only worth doing if you've caught it before the batteries leak all over the PCB!

Turned off the ignition today, and heard a few beeps, which is obviously the powersounder batteries on the way out,so just been to maplins and they only have the 3 pin batteries 150/h.Does anyone know of another place to get them from.Already took the powersounder out,and ripped it apart, just need to change batteries. ::)

Agreed. My last ones were from Farnell. Not worth messing about with Maplins these days. Shame I ordered the wrong ones. :-[
