Yea

i took the omega radio out and then took the metal casing out to free up the plugs, then connected the JVC to the two out of the three plugs

is this right or do i need to buy some different wires

Selsey means check the LIVE feed WIRE. Its the red or yellow one, on new headunits, these are swappable, as manafactures vary. I had to do the same with my Alpine unit, and switch them

Dunno if Omega is the same, but on Carlton, Astra 3, Cavalier and Calibra, the yellow and red wires need swapping over - switched and permanent lives.

What he says ^^

On some cars the red is live, others yellow. With Vx you need to swap them around, the loom adaptor will allow you to switch them.

On the loom, swap the yellow and red wires around.

Do you have the BOSE amplifiers and speakers in the Car?

If just the lower plug (power) is connected does the stereo stay switched on, or still shut down?

And yes, the yellow and red need to be swapped over on the bullets

On the standard fit radio you can switch it on without having the key in the ignition.

A lot of the cheap aftermarket radios merely use the permanent live to maintain the memory and need the switched live (W) to operate.

Plug on end of OEM wiring lom is split into three sections. Top one, either 20 pin or 10 pin is for display and is not used for your JVC. Middle 8 pin one is for speakers, lower 8 pin one is for power.

Disconnect the speaker (middle) plug and see if unit powers up.

CDX won't have Bose unless it had been added. Do you have speakers in the parcel shelf?

JVC units can also suffer with blown internal earth tracks.

With lower plug connected only, connect a piece of cable to the outer chassis (metal casing) of teh stereo and something metal on the car - a good earth point.

Does the radio still fail after a few seconds
