does anybody know if its possible and how to fit HID on the main beam and into the front fogs on a facelift
-
I dont think there is room in the lens for the fogs and HID in mains is illegal as they need time to warm. Cars with factory main hids have shutters as they are always on to avoid the warm up time.

Has the guy in America got them? i should pm him

I think he has in the fogs. But as said, HID's don't strike up fast enough for use in the main beam. :y

I have fitted HID 6000k ,s in my front fog lights on a minin facelift.
Bought the kit off ebay for about £50=00 with a choice of bulb ratings (found a UK seller close by me so if any problems could get sorted )
The biggest issue is the length of the bulb within the rear black plastic cowling.I made a cover up out of a rigid clear plastic pot(tupperware which was an exact fit on the lamp body). It needed trimming in length to accept bulb and clear cross member on car...I drilled a cable feed hole into the back which then had a rubber grommet fitted and sealed it all up with silicone although it could be dismantled should a bulb need replacing. Then I mounted the ballast units under the radiator black trim as they would be well clear of as much spray as possible.
Then just conected the standard foglight wires to the new cable feeds and job done..car now has HID low beam,HID foglights and standard high beam..I intend doing a mod on the side light bulbs after reading the American guys post, but need to wait for warmer weather now.
Total cost about £60=00 all in.

Are you sure?
I must admit, I'm not 100% certain, but I do see your point. I thought the MOT test concentrated on dipped lights only??
I have Bi-HID lights on the Carlton, with added HID on the spotlights (part of the factory light units, not add-ons).
The bi's have the hood thing that moves up and down (oo-err, missis!!!), but the spotlights have standard HID burners. Passed it's last MOT OK with that little lot. :y

MOT guys around this neck of the woods woud fail it for sure.
There are some very stringent rules regarding all lighting under the construction and useage legislation. Whilst we used to be able to get away with it previously, thanks to the number of Chavved up Novas fitting these kits and pointing them in the air like searchlights, the powers that be are now aware of them and can no longer turn a blind eye
or should that be blinded eye ? ;D
