Title: How do I turn the Alarm off
Post by: The roadrunner on 06 December 2009, 11:14:07
Hi First question on here (please be gentle lol) I've recently bought my Omega 3.0 Elite and unfortuately the key fobs do not work despite new battery's.

Hence every time I open the door the horn goes off until I can get the key into the ignition, in time I will get the fob refurbed or replaced, but as a stop gap measure I need to silence the alarm before the neighbours slap me with an asbo!

Can it be turned off, or if not what do I have to rip out/destroy to silence it.

Cheers

You can avoid setting the alarm by shutting the driver's door and then reaching it through the rear door to lock it.

Have you tried the key re-sync procedure in the owner's manual?

Basically no! To lock your car without arming the alarm simply lock the drivers door by reaching around from the rear drivers side door and pushing the button down BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR KEYS IN YOUR HAND!!!

Search on here for Martin Imber, he repairs/recons the remotes for a very reasonable price and does an excellent job :y

Cheers Gents, I've tried the re-sync procedure and nothing at all, replaced battery's again nothing, one of the remote's is probably DBR but the other looks ok, I'll give Martin Imber a shout.

Meanwhile the method you describe seems just the job

Cheers

i had a simeral problem and traced it to the bonnet switch, packed out the linning with gaffer tape so as to push the plunger down and it stopped.

Whereabouts are you located? If you're not far from me I'd be happy to have a look over the fobs.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks very much for the offer, I'm not far from you in West Sussex, but I've got it sorted, £34.00 from Steels Vauxhall for a new key fob.

Now to get the rest of it sorted, may be asking you for a couple of quotes in the near future regarding Tech2.

Cheers

Jim

Hello Guys,

I'm having some troubles with my alarm for few weeks now. The issue is that the alarm just starts in the middle of the night without any reason. Sometimes it starts right after I lock my car. Sometimes few hours later. In the past few days it didn't start at all. So far I didn't find any logic in it.

Have you got any idea how could I sort it out? :-/

Several possibilities ... but starting in order of "probability"

Powersounder is starting to fail ... this can often cause erratic alarm operation.... unplug the powersounder and see if that sorts it... (power sounder stuff in the guides section)

Bonnet switch is mis-aligned ... as the temperature changes this can cause false warnings, unplug it and see if that sorts it .. if it does then re-align the switch.

If it wasn't going off sometimes as soon as you locked it I'd also suggest it could be a large moth in the car .. one of those flying around can set the alarm off .....  use the internal inhibit switch (little man running away) and see if that sorts it.

Takes a while to find the exact cause .. especially of an intermittent problem .. so change one thing and wait a few days.

Mine was the powersounder ... but yours might not be !!!
