Title: Auto gearbox fault codes
Post by: GrayUK on 01 January 2010, 18:56:55
During the recent cold spell, I started my Omega (Y reg. CDX estate 2.2 petrol).
The automatic change position indicator light kept flashing around from D to P to 3 etc and then had all the lights on.
After a while the engine management light came on (not the car with the spanner).
My current situation is that i have had the codes read by a friend of mine.
P1700 and P700 which point to the TCU. Sometimes I have a full gearbox but the light favours the 3 position occasionally flashing around. Other times i only have manual selection of 1, 2 and 3.
I do not believe the is a ‘real’ fault but a sensor problem.
Can anyone help, or just point me in the right direction please.

Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like your selector switch, passenger side of box needs removing, good clean with switch cleaner (not WD40) replacing and re-adjusting.

If you read the gearbox codes (assuming your reader can), I suspect you will see a Range Switch fault (Selector switch, as mentioned)
