hi folks , any one know why my key fobs wont open boot lid on my 2000 facelift 2.0 auto omega, been good for last 2 years, locks/unlocks car ok but not boot. boot works ok from dash switch but not fobssss, i hate it when she goes crook!
thanx,,ron

Possibly the switch in the fob for the boot ... does the little red light flash when you press the boot button ??? (assuming yours has the LED of course)
It might need to go to Martin Imber for a refurb .. he does a brilliant job, and I'm about to send him one if mine ... again .... :)
I suppose it could also be the car side if more than one fob is doing the same ... :(
-
hi entwood cheers for your reply, i guess its the car side as the fobs both work ok on the doors, its just happened this week maybe its the cold eh
-
I don't know how the signal from the fob gets to the boot mechanism, but as the dash button works I guess the boot motor is OK. With luck one of the "electronic" wizz kids ( ie Kevin Woods) will pass by soon and offer thoughts !!
BTW .. Hello and welcome to the forum .. :y :y :y

Cheers for the welcome bud, hope a leckie can help out, inconvenient with no boot remote eh. Off to bed now , early start , bonjour

Not sure if the F/L Omega has a Boot Lock???????????
If it has, the C/L only works when the Boot Lock is in the Vertical Position. If it is Horizontal, it wont work.
I'm only basing this info on knowledge of my MK3 Cavalier.

No key access to the boot at all ... totally electronic..... fob or dash button.
There is a manual release if the motor dies, access behind the rear seat.

Thanks for clearing that up.... for me at least ;D

If the dash button works, that would make me suspect the fob.

Had a daft thought ... have you tried a "resynch" of the key to the car ??
key in ignition, ignition ON without starting engine... press Lock then unlock on the fobs. Doors should lock/unlock.
Then retry the key as normal ... worth a try even if it doesn't work .. :)

Does your fob have a third button for the boot release?
I thought Entwood was asking you to press the boot release button on the fob to check if the LED flashed (like it does for the other two).

Hi Andy H, yes it is a 3 button fob, 2 for doors and 1 for boot.
-
Check the wires that travel up the passenger side boot hinge for a broken wire
-
ok Mark cheers for that, ive got a couple of clues to go on now. That should give me something to do on saturday .

Have you got another fob? Just nice to prove that if that one works I has to be the fault of the other.

hi Andy i think you have got it bud , i have just checked the two keys, the spare one lights up when i pressed the boot button, and the one i normally use dont light up, guess it must be a" prob with the fob",coz it does light up when i press the door lock buttons, thanx to you all , ron
