Title: Postman V Rottweilers...
Post by: Danny on 16 February 2008, 11:47:54
postman lost!!!

i have VERY VERY minor injuries to the bottom of both my legs, if i'm honest, my own cats have done worse, but i'm just wondering how much of a matter of urgency is it that i get seen to medically, being as the doctors is closed and i cant be arsed driving to hospital??

worst thing is, i'd finished work, this actually happened in my own street, maybe i should have got changed out of the uniform first?? :D

police have been informed, had i been a 5 year old child, i may be missing a face, these dogs required no provocation

not 100% where the dogs are from, they were loose in my street, but if they belong to the family my neighbours suggested, they're the sort i'd rather let the police deal with!

I know what you mean.

Lets hope they do something about it before someone gets seriously hurt

Our place always recommend driver to get a tetanus if they're bitten by a dog. Covers them legally if something swells up and drops off later. ;D
I would expect RM to do the same.
Obviously wether you do or not is up to yourself, last time I was bitten I decided I couldn't be bothered sitting around A&E for a few hours for a tetanus and somebody to stick a bandage on my finger.

the dogs also chased our own postman all over town until someone let him in their house, but they also "nipped" a young girl down the street from me, so they've been picked up by a police dog van and taken to be destroyed

went to A&E and got given antibiotics, so i think this evening i go to my girlfriends and play on the pain a little in return for all the sympathy a guy could ever want :y

a mate of mine also has one, one of the most playful things i've seen, and i've had a good fight with it now and again, i have no fear of dogs

these two dogs had apparently been professionally trained, and had certificates to prove, but they'd been let out deliberately by someone else and being out together, they apparently go into "pack" mode, and were originally after a neighbours cat, which had probably been the cause for them to be riled in the first place, so i distract them by walking near them and they decide i'd be a better meal!

police said no signs of negligence from the owners

Yes mate you should go for a jab, dogs carry alot of bacteria on their teeth.
Dogs are naturally pack animals, they will sometimes work each other up into a frenzy & will attack just about anything.
I had a Rottie & she was the most gentle dog i've ever known, but we welcome an animal into our homes that can without provocation turn on anyone even the ones they love

I'd bet on the cat - I had one when I was growing up, unfazed by dogs, my dad had one too and that attacked one dog

We have a cat and a dog, a daft lab. They play together and the cat always says hello to the dog when he comes in. If the play gets rough it is always the cat that wins.  :D :D :D

our old cat (passed away from cancer aged 18 &1/2, about 18 months ago) used to chase dogs, Alsastians, Boxers, Rotties, he weren't fussy.... if it barked it was fair game....

hilarious , seeing the dogs running for their lives once they'd figured out that it wasn't a joke.....    always reaffirmed how stupid dogs really are....     to be fair, he was a fair size for a moggy....     the neighbours asked if he came with a saddle when we moved in.....   6 weeks later,  he went in thru their open kitchen window, and half inched their Roast chicken , just before they sat down for sunday dinner.....    i was terribly polite, but had difficulty keeping a straight face , or being terribly cross with him, as they timidly knocked on our door to see if he'd brought it home with him.....

I took pity and handed them our leg of Lamb , and then spent the afternoon giggling insanely....    The Mrs was quite cross about having to settle for sausages for sunday dinner though....

they had 2 rotties, both were terrified of him within days of him being allowed out of the house to claim his new territory....

I think if any cat on the run turned, the dog would be off, it's just that cat's run, I don't know why. :)

my cat chased two dobermans out of our back garden in her younger days, it was one of her kittens that the rottweilers were after, tho not a kitten anymore, but not as brave as our smudge either!
