Hi
Can you wire a car stereo to inherit brightness control from the dash dimmer wheel? I have an aftermarket stereo in my miggy and its far too bright for dark roads and bad weather.
Its been driving me nuts on long late journeys, wouldn't mind sorting it out.
Thanks,
John

what unit is it???

Some aftermarket stereos have an illuniation wire input to do this automatically, and some of the better stereos may have a brightness setting on the menu
But without knowing what you have fitted, impossible to advise any further

Sorry I went to reply yesterday but the site (or my router) ground to a halt.
Its a Tevion/Aldi unit, I only keep it in because it has bluetooth handsfree and remote. Will probably replace it this year.
What colour is the illumination wire on the Omegas loom?

Dave wasnt illumination wire for only two things?
Either to turn on the lights of the stereo (but not the stereo itself), or to dimm the lights of the stereo automatically when the car lights are turned on?
No way that the brightness control of the instrument panel can be used to dimm the lights gradually on the aftermarket stereos.

Correct on all counts !!
It will either turn on or dim to a preset level, but will not offer any form of variance via the illumination wire.
