I have a 51 plate Omega. The battery recently died, which has now been sorted out. However, the audio system is completely dead...no lights, no sound, nothing. Everything else electrical on the car is ok. In the past when I have had problems with the audio system it has been a case of just putting in the pass key to reset it. Is it possible there is a fuse or something similar that may have blown? I have removed the front panel but cannot see how to remove the radio system to check. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has been covered in another topic/thread but I am new to the forums...have tried searching to no avail.

However, if you have pulled off the front panel of the radio in error, then you will have to strip out the entire unit before trying to push the fascia back on or you will damage the edge connectors on the circuit board. The fascia should NOT be taken off whilst the rest of the unit is in the dash.

The panel was removed by myself by undoing the four grub screws, thinking there may have been a fuse or something inside. You say check the fuses...do you mean within the unit or the actual fuse box (no.6 fuse). I have checked the no. 6 fuse in the fuse box which seems ok. How do you remove the whole unit?
In answer to the other post my location is Ormskirk, Lancs.

Thanks for your assistance and I have purchased a set of radio removal keys (to arrive).Is there a fuse within the radio set or is it likely to be a fuse within the car itself (fuse no 6 ? )

There is a fuse at the rear of the radio, but seldom blows - there are two live supplies, one ignition and one permenent at the rear of the radio, both controlled by fuses in the main fusebox.
I cannot stress enough the importance of removing the CD mech from the stereo before trying to reattatch the front fascia, as you will need to see where the edge connectors line up on the main PCB, trying to do this "Blind" without the mech removed will certainly bend the pins, often irretrievably, so be very carefull.
If the correct removal tools were used in the first place, the stereo would have come out in a very large lump, rather than damaging the fascia and simply ripping the front off.

many thanks for your help.removed the radio body with the correct tool and with no damage to the fascia.10amp fuse had blown.All working and correct now.Cheers :)
