My alarm comes on sometimes when I get in the car and switch on the ignition. may not happen for a week then happens again. I recently had this key, a new one, programmed could this be something to do with it.

usually a sign that the batteries in the powersounder are starting to fail.
Now is the time to replace them before any damage is caused by them leaking internally.

Thanks Dave Do I access the sounder from under the scuttle or from behind the wheel arch cover (passenger side?). where can I source the battery or is it batteries. Is the sounder sealed and needs cutting open to solder new batteries in. If just disconnected and left does thus give any further problems ,( what is it there for?)

Sounder is under the scuttle.
Needs cutting open with a hacksaw, and if you trawl this site, there should be a good "How To" description of what is involved as for replacing the batteries.
Temporary disconnection is ok, but remember that it is there for at least two reasons, one to keep the vehicle protected, and second, to keep your insurance validated !
