The haynes maual says remove by taking out wheel arch liner. I have tried the forum guide which says take it from under scuttle are both correct?

Nope. Haynes manual speaks with forked tongue. You'd need a BIG tin opener to get it out through the wheel arch!

Just remove the scuttle panel and it's on a bracket behind the driver's side suspension turret.

much easier to take out the scuttle, only takes 5 mins. Guess you could get there via wheel arch, but no need

Is the Haynes using a European model Omega for this?

 :-?

Certainly all I have seen are under the scuttle.

No, it just lies, commonly known as the book of lies.

With practice its possible to get the ps out by just undoing the torx bolt on drivers side and lifting that corner, but first time you go in there you may need the scuttle fully removed, wipers off.

When removing the wipers daft as it seems it is easier with the blades resting on the glass and kept flat while giving the spline end of the wipers a little wiggle. If you plan to do this more frequently then a blob of copper grease will come in useful before refitting them to the spline.
