Title: headlight/taillight
Post by: MonzaGSE on 02 March 2010, 17:13:53
hi. i'm a new member here. I have a -95 Omega MV6 estate. Great car but the headlight/taillight error msg in the mid really anoys me. I've had the car for 2 years now and that msg has been there all the time. Have tried to change both headlightbulbs and both taillightbulbs for new GM bulbs with no change. previous owner thought the towbar was the problem. This is retrofitted to the plug in the booth floor but with the brake light to trailer taken from left car brake light cluster. The proper Opel plug for trailer wiring is not used. and is now discontinued. Message disappers when i switch to sidelights... Really annoying since its required by law in Norway to have lights on at all times and they turn on automatic. Means i have pushed the mid button every 15 mins in 2 years now to get rid of that message popping up:P

It does sound like the tow bar electrics are confusing the circuit that detects a blown bulb. If you can try disconnecting the feed from the cluster and see if that clears the message. If it does you'll have to look on ebay for the proper adapter. hth

EDIT: do the 95 miggy's bulb check circuit thingy check the number plate bulbs?

thanks for all suggestions. I'll try disconnecting the towbarwiring and see. Dont know bout the numberplate lights, but they do work both of them.

Have tried disconnecting all the wires to the trailer now. Have also changed a wire to one headlight that was corroded. Really out of ideas here. The message still pops up. I've noticed that one headlight adjuster motor is not working. Is that part of the check control? Ordinary lights no xenon.

only the hid levelling system is part of check control.

are you getting the warning randomly, ie poor connection like halfords bulb syndrome or does it come on imediately after the brake check and stay on no matter what?
