he's a nice chap, not only did he let me
nick borrow some oil and a filter, but also attempted to tighten the handbrake on the Estate.
I greased up all the door locking pins cause they made horrible sqeeking noisies on bumpy roads, very annoying. Greased them up, silent inside now :)
Bad news i have discovered another water leak.... (remember this is MaxV6's old Estate which had more leaks than a cullendar)
This time its the rad, could see it steaming away on the drivers side after it was hot with the bonnet up. Looking underneath to two locking 'pins'? where the rad slots into the chassis, is dripping in coolant :'(
So thats getting changed at the party next week..... MarkDTM could i have one of those nice V6 rads i saw stacked in your garage? :-*
Other than that, running well. Went to the scrappy yesterday, picked up a replacement SatNav speaker, wired that in, also got a bose speaker for TheBoy, and a new breather plenum pipe thingy.
Had a good go at cleaning the breathers, but going to finish the job next weekend, the throttle bodys need to come off for a good job. The breathers look like someone had shat down them! >:(
So give that a good clean along with the free oil, its running well.
On top of that managed to walk the dog for 2 hours, clean the garage to fit the 2.2 in there, as i can't be bothered to de-frost it tommorow morning! ;D

i think rad is fubar.
you'll need to strip the handbrake down i'm afraid, so take something harsh to clean drums. Might be worth getting some spare shoes (£12 from 'Frauds) as yours seemed to be getting down. Disc and pads ok, though integral drum is suspect. try to get more wd40 on all those heatshield bolts later in week.
sort out vac as well, that will help.
I think you may need to investigate drivers cam gasket.

Looking for his spanner, no doubt. ;)
I remember Lthe rear disks coming off that a year ago at the cambelt do and the lining fell off the handbrake shoes. I hopeassume it got a new set then? :-X

Said spanner missing :(
Yes, had new shoes, but not much meat left on them. Adjusters needed a lot of adjustment to get near drum (Tunnie was in a hurry, so not as good a job as it should be).

I thought laidback did these brakes at the last cambelt event?
I know of an extremely reduced cost BRAND NEW genuine GM radiator that would be perfect for the Estate, if that one's weeping.
We'll have a chat about it on MSN tomorrow while we're pretending to look busy working... ;)

Yes, he did. I'm guessing a garage has messed with it since then, as the adjustment on these was way off (still is, but better). Either that or MaxV6 forgets to take the handbrake off ;D

I will gladly bring a V6 radiator......I need the space!

Not really, only noticable with the bonnet up. Drivers side only up the top, not helped by the cold day today!
About as much as few lit ciggys as guess.

And budget tyres...
Though I would say I reckon your estate corners better than the 2.2 with plastic tyres

I had the handbrake "adjusted" for it's last MOT.... it was fubarred again inside 6 months.... I'm beginning to think the garage that did it isn't terribly au fait with Vauxhalls.....
the Radiator weep is definitely a new "issue" , from your description of it being around mounts, i guess it might be from being sat on..... stood on, leant on, and generally abused , during the last few weeks of my ownership, much like the front grille, which was, prior to that, spotless, and only 18 months old, having been replaced after a deer incident.... .... i would definitely have noticed the Rad weeping.... .... having spent so long looking for leaks weeps, and steamy spots.... with engine running and bonnet open....
I paid for the breathers to be cleaned with it's last service.. from your description, either I got ripped off, or the HG being shagged affects a lot more other things than I thought about....

as Estates go, it handled rather well I thought.... ;) new one isn't quite as stable, despite being on expensive rubber..... but I suspect new rear shocks might resolve that....

There was a lot of old crud in there, especially in the front section of the breathers, very brown, very yuKK!!
Just goes to show, if you want a job doing right, do it yourself, then you know its done!
