Title: Alarm probs
Post by: Glassback on 16 March 2010, 10:32:52
Hi, As the sun starts getting high in the mornings and starts warming things up, ie. the car, the alarm goes off and starts waking the neighbours up. :-? Can any one tell me what's wrong and how to fix it please. thank you.  :y

Most likely the bonnet switch, as the bonnet warms up and shifts slightly. Try unplugging the switch and see if that resolves it.

Is it the alarm or the powersounder that goes off. My powersounder was giving problems but since trying to remove it without taking the scuttle off,  without success, And dropping a socket and a spanner into the void where they remain the problem has gone away hows that for a cure.

I dont know what you mean, Power sounder or alarm, are you saying there are two different units? If so what's the difference?

I think that the powersounder is to detect Battery disconnection whereas the alarm is to detect unauthorised entry to the car One of our experts will clarify.

The power sounder is indeed a battery back up for the alarm system and has rechargeable batteries in them. After a while the batteries will no longer hold there charge and they have a habit of causing damage to the powersounder due to leakage. One members powersounder fault caused a fire ! The powersounder can be found on the drivers side wing under the windscreen scuttle and is very easy to disconnect.
