I am guessing what Rob is suggesting is that OP presses TC button to 'use' it? and expects it to go out?

If I understand you correctly .... with the TC selected normally (light out) and you "activate" it by some "enthusiastic" driving .. you say the TC works (you feel the power reduction/wheel braking) but the light then stays on ??? and it stays on until you switch the engine off and back on ???

This is simply indicating a "fault" with the TC system .. it has not been able to do what it wants to do ..  the light should flash while the TC control is doing it's thing ...

My guess is a tech2 code read needed to find out exactly why.

Entwood has it correct!it is working as I can feel it and the light flashes but when it has stopped flashing the light stays on regardless of what I do to the switch.it goes off when I restart the engine but next time wheels spin same thing happens and light stays on.sorry foe explanation I thought it was clear enough!

Right ... having sorted that .. my ... limited .. reading/undestanding of the way it works leads me to a couple of possibilities ..

The TC system is either not receiving signals that it thinks are adequate ... check the sensors on each of the wheels .. to calculate what degree of TC it should apply, or it is recieveing the correct signals but the corrections it sends are not having the desired effect ..  :(

I believe that on mine (2001 car) the system applies braking to the wheel first then reduces engine power ... it might be that one of your rear brakes is not "as good" as the other ?? and the system reads the applied braking force/actual achieved force as an error ???

random musings I'm afraid following a little googling .. :)

Needs a code reader on it before changing anything on a hunch
