When you say none of the buttons work, do you mean the radio itself isn't working? Or just the wheel buttons?

Just the button's on the wheel  :(
wheel buttons lite up when radio is turned on, not when lights are turned on !!
Radio works fine  :)

Strange one! With the buttons lighting up when the unit is turned on you would think that the connections are ok. Having said that, I put a JVC head unit into my pre f/l and used autoleads cables to utilise the wheel controls. Each time I turned the unit on I lost one of the lines of display on the computer, so I disconnected one of the cables to rectify it. My controls still work, but they don't light up!
I guess Dave DND is the man for this, but is there any evidence the HU has been removed at some point?

IIRC, all the facelift units are preconfigured for remote controls. In fact, I don't think they can be disabled like earlier units.

no, I`m scratching my head at the moment.

Can only suggest to try a new set of steering controls?

Clutching at straws though - never known a set go down

I`m presuming that you have already ruled out any butchered wiring at the back of the stereo?

 :-?
