sorry to say.... those Bose speakers will not work with that head until, sooner or later they will blow, and when i mean blow, physically explode. (Dave DND has prior experience)
Bose are 2 Ohm, and must be replaced with 4 Ohm ones as needed by the replacement headunit.

Bugger beat me to it tunnie......

And the Amp isn't any use either :y :y

when i had a sound system installed a few moons ago, i had some resistors and stuff soldered inline, which reduced the ohmage. worth going to a local stereo shop and asking them. (not halfrauds as they will ripspeed you off!)

No, the Ohmage is too low already, but that fix sounds more like the Philips amp, not the BOSE one.
If you intend to use the new stereo, then the BOSE amp and wiring MUST be removed and altered and teh BOSE speakers MUST be replaced with some good aftermarket ones.
Well worth the effort, but I`m afraid to say that you have a bit more work ahead of you before using that new stereo of yours.

Was told by a "quality" audio company that the large Bose rear speakers, on the parcel shelf, are ok with aftermarket headunits but those in the doors WILL explode. Hope they're right. Changed the door ones but parcel shelf speakers remain ??
-
my understanding is that all Bose speakers are 2Ohm, parcel shelf ones are just larger compared to door speakers. Dave can confirm though :y
-
No !
BOSE speakers are designed ONLY to work with BOSE equipment.
All BOSE equipment, speakers, amp and wiring MUST be removed in entirety if aftermarket items are to be fitted.
-
OOO rats !
Mind you..I'm assuming the rear speakers are Bose. Just because the plastic surround has Bose written on them doesn't mean they are. Perhaps the buggers that nicked the Bose Amp swapped the rear speakers also. Either way they seem to be working fine, unlike the door ones which were rapidly dying with the Sony HU.
What size would the rear ones be so that I can get some replacements sorted out, just in case. Heck ! I might even be able to change them over myself. :-/

If I might suggest another bit of guidance for you . . .
please avoid txt speak on the forum . . . . It usually goes ignored - plain english is preferred.

Oh, nearly forgot - rest of your ideas sound fine to me -
Don`t be tempted to cut out any metal from the shelf though, its needed for structural rigidity on the Omega, better to use around a 1" mdf spacer under the rear shelf hole if using 6x9`s
;)
