Title: Head Unit Removal
Post by: edwardmickey on 22 April 2010, 22:40:42
Tried removing the NCDC2013 unit using the pins supplied from Halfrauds.

Unfortunately, even with the pins pushed in, the unit would not budge. Anyone got any ideas?

Don't know if relevant, but you may need to remove the grub screws on the H/U facia to get the removal clips in far enough.
Anyone?
Matthew

Yes, they are a sod. All the stupid Vauxhall double din ones are.  Not helped by the brand of keys halfords sell (Autoleads) are poor.

I'd offer to help, but its a job I hate doing ;D ;D ;D

Why are you removing it? Or can I already guess that bit ;)

i found that after pushing pins in, gently pulling the pins apart (towards doors) slightly and wiggling the unit side to side, while slowly pulling back used to work

Nah, not with the full double dins from GM (ccr2006/7/8/ncdc201x). Sometimes you can be lucky, but invariably, it needs other measures, frequently involving Mrs TheBoy's stitching stuff - just don't tell her it was me ;)

Yep they are an absolute git!

I've took plenty of them out but only two have been easy!

I think the ISO connector sometimes doesn't want to disconnect easily as well which adds to your problems.

EDIT - Because I can't spell!
