Title: Installing a Nokia Bluetooth Car Kit
Post by: mathewjcooper on 27 April 2010, 18:56:07
Hi All

Does anyone know if a Y Reg Omega CDX would have mobile phone preperation on it?

If so. I am trying to install my nokia car kit and need to get a wiring harness from the kit to the car...

Any ideas?

Thanks ::)

I thought ALL Omegas had somekind of wiring for a phone installed at the factory. My pre-facelift car has a foam 'bag' with a plug & co-ax plug/socket tied up towards the middle of the boot under the rear screen, even though it has a CCRT700  ;) I've no idea at all what you'd do with it though.  ;D

Should have prewiring behind the glovebox, however, being an ex plod it may be different.

If it has a cellular aerial on rear of roof, chances are it is prwwired.  If not, then it probably aint.

Well my 2002 brochure states all models had pre-wiring but dunno how far back it went before then.  'don't think my 99 Elite had any.  Roof aerial is obvious giveaway and remember there is also a microphone in the sunroof control panel (although I'm told that it is poor and better to fit a proper Nokia up there if you can)

Non retail version specs won't be in the brochures ;)

1999 Elite was sort of prewired, but as it had a ccrt700, all the phone stuff went straight to that.

Microphones usually are not fitted. In the case of pre 1999 cars, the courtesy light needed to be changed anyway.  Nothing wrong with the built in mics, but be aware there are 2 different types, and obviously you need the right one ;)
