On star button for a different market to ours....does'nt do anything.

Sim card connectiond oxidise if not used, therefore sim card doesnt read properly. the only thing to d is very severe, use a ladies nail file (smooth side) gently in the slot to clean the contacts CAREFULLY using  iso -proponol on the cardboard file. then put iso-p on the sim card and wipe off to clean the sim contacts. In 90% of cases, that cures it.

They DO recognise the sim in them, but they need to display a number to be able to work, and it won't do that if even ONE connection is dirty. (had to strip mine and clean the contacts.....nasty job.)

I would take the message at face value ie No phone signal

Check
-  the aerial for corrosion
-  that the aerial lead is connected to the aerial
-  that the connector behind the drivers side kick panel is OK
- that the aerial lead is still plugged into the back of the headunit.
